The space furnace tipped over and burned a hole in the carpet

When I was a little kid, I remember my parents had a space furnace in the middle of the kitchen.

The space furnace constantly made the room particularly warm and cozy! During the Winter weeks, the space furnace ran all of the time.

It’s used kerosene and my parents purchased it from a gas station close to our home, lots of people back then had kerosene heating systems in their home. My friends and I were hanging out at the home a single night. The people I was with and I were hanging out in the kitchen seeing television. The people I was with and I decided to play a game of Twister. My foot got tangled with another and I fell backwards into the space heater. It tipped over onto the ground and the carpet right away caught on fire. I yelled to my parents. They were sitting in the dining room playing a board game. My Dad came rushing into the kitchen. My dad threw a towel over the fire and started stomping on the hot, molten, carpet. After that, my parents never put the space furnace back in the kitchen. I truthfully think the furnace was sitting in the trash the next morning. I do not ever remember seeing another space furnace in the kitchen. In fact, a couple of years later my parents finally opted for Central Electric Heating. It’s been 25 years since that accident occurred and my parents still refused to put a space furnace in the house. They clearly have some PTSD problems from the time the carpet was burnt all those years ago.
