My co-worker and I went downtown to meet with a possible commercial client.
The guy owns a hardware store and he was looking for someone to help with the HVAC work.
The building was quite old and needed updates. I offered to come to the property to give the guy some help. My coworker and I met with the client. His accent was very peculiar and I couldn’t figure out where the guy was from. I really wanted to ask, but the guy didn’t speak very good English. I thought it might be difficult and I didn’t want the customer to feel uncomfortable if I started asking a bunch of questions. If we get the hardware store job, I’ll definitely find a time when I can speak with a customer in detail about his background and ethnicity. I absolutely loved the sound of the accent and I would love to know where he is from. It is positively mind-boggling and I’m going to think about it every single day until I have the opportunity to figure it out. I even provided the customer with a lower than average quote, because I am hopeful that my co-worker and I will get a chance to go back to the property. I could have added $1,000 or more to that estimate, but I really want to go back there and learn more information about the owner of the hardware store.. We could chat about life while I update the ductwork, heat pump, air conditioner, and ventilation fans. There’s a lot of work to be done.
