Before we decided to call the professionals about a new a/c install, my wife and I looked online to see what available cooling systems were on the market.
It was cool seeing the high velocity cooling systems and the demo videos.
I told my wife that it would be cool to go to a place that showed the demonstrations, to actually feel the speed of which the air cools. It was explained that they commonly showed how the heating systems and cooling systems worked. They would show how the high velocity heating worked to heat up a room within minutes, and then go to cooling. Naturally, these systems are more expensive because you have to install brand new ductwork. However, this type of ductwork is more flexible and is easier to install than traditional sheet metal ductwork systems. It was costly, but I didn’t think it would be out of our range entirely. We looked at ductless mini split air conditioners and even geothermal heat pumps. Eventually we had an HVAC expert come out and he told us the high velocity systems were great, but he recommended a ductless multi-split system for the energy efficiency. He said we would have both heating and cooling year round with extremely low energy bills. My wife and I both agreed that sounded great, especially when he mentioned customized temperature control settings in different zones of the house. It makes sense that you can save so much money since you only have to worry about heating and cooling the areas of the home you’re using.
