About numerous months ago, I noticed that the back deck on a rental loft that I own had rotted! I was sad about safety & liability.
I am also determined to protect our investment.
I would enjoy the property to continue to be worth more as the years go by… Keeping up with repairs & necessary updates attracts better occupants & allows myself and others to collect a higher rent, but when I discussed splitting out the outdated deck & building a new structure, I expected our occupant to be happy. Instead, the occupant informed myself and others that he & his fiance enjoy to sleep in on weekends, he was unhappy with myself and others working on the project before noon, then this significantly limited the time I was able to devote to deck removal & building each week. The first afternoon I arrived to begin, his pet was loose & aggressive. I was sad about getting bit. When I finally called his to take care of his pet, I figured out that he was still sleeping. I frequently had complications with his four-year-old child wanting to spend time with myself and others while I was splitting out rotten boards, running an electric saw & using a drill. I didn’t recognize it was safe for the child to be near the work zone, completing the decks was an poor experience. I spent a good deal of time & currency on constructing a truly large & sturdy outdoor structure, then never once has the occupant said thank you. I am now hoping that he & his fiance transport out. I am no longer willing to forgive late payment of the rent or the pet poop in the sod.
