Joanne stared at him as he lay there next to her.
She could actually smell the thin coat of sweat on his skin.
Joanne could not understand how she ended up in a shabby looking motel with a man whose body fat percentage appeared to be twice his age. She felt a heaviness in her head that spoke to something more than a hangover. She tried to recollect the events of the previous day. First, she woke up early, as usual. She headed to the HVAC company where she worked as one of their leading professionals. She soon received a call to help oversee the installation of a new HVAC system in a nearby school. She then received another call from a friend who could use some advice on her new smart thermostat. Her old programmable thermostat was on its way out, and her friend wanted to upgrade. Joanne was only too happy to help. From there, she went to personally help an elderly woman who was a top customer with some HVAC repair problem or another that she was having. This customer’s unit had been installed by Joanne and she was happy to see that after 6 years, it was in great shape! She then returned to the HVAC office to forward an invoice of supplies to another employee that the company would need from an HVAC supplier. That was the last thing she remembered. How on earth did she get here? What happened after that? She was definitely going to expect answers from the man when he woke up.
