Replace Air Filters Routinely

Keeping your HVAC system in top condition and maintaining good indoor air quality requires routine maintenance.

This involves changing the air filters regularly.

You should change the air and furnace filters every three months during their seasons of use. If you have pets or family members with allergies, the filters should be changed more frequently, at least once every two to three months. Is it really that bad if you occasionally forget to change the air filters in your HVAC system? Indoor air quality and obstructed airflow are two things that can cause a lot of problems. Good indoor air quality is important, especially since Americans spend 90% of their time indoors. By removing air pollutants from the air, air filters help maintain indoor air quality by reducing allergies and aggravating existing respiratory conditions. If the filters are clogged with dust, however, smaller particles might be able to pass through and reduce air quality and comfort. Certain indoor pollutants can increase your risk of developing certain diseases over time. If your air filters are clogged, warm or cool air cannot circulate evenly throughout the house. As a result, your HVAC system is forced to work harder and consume more electricity, which in turn increases wear and tear on HVAC components, particularly the motor fan. You should have an HVAC repair contractor inspect your HVAC system if your electricity bill consistently spikes despite not using your HVAC system more than usual or recently replacing the filter.
