I was attending a special service at our local church last week, and they were honoring all the fallen soldiers of the past wars and present. My father had been killed in the Gulf War, and our brother recently died in a training accident, and after the the service, he was talking to most people when I saw him walk up to the dais. He asked if there was an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist in the house? This was quite a change from the subject the people I was with and I were discussing, however it must have been important. The minister said they were having a problem with the heating in the prayer chapel, if anyone could help with the problem, he would be quite grateful. I wasn’t an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist, however I knew several men who were. I was about to offer their help when one of the newer parishioners stepped forward. He said he was a Navy vet, and he was an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist. He would be proud to do the Heating and Air Conditioning job in the prayer chapel. Two other Heating and Air Conditioning specialists provided to help. I could not know the generosity of the several guys who were donating their time to help the church, but when they came out of the area, I heard them tell the minister that there was no fixing to be done. They needed a new gas furnace for that section of the church. The first guy to offer his help told the minister that if he would pay for the equipment, he would make sure all of the labor was done for free, and he would lead the team. I hope that one afternoon I can be as gracious as these men.
