I had accumulated almost four months’ worth of vacation days because I didn’t know how not to work.
If something is to be done, I will not want to take any vacation days.
After the pandemic, however, I was forced to clear my vacation days. My wife suggested I use my skill and financial ability to help the less fortunate in our community. The pandemic had left most people disheartened, and to put a smile on their faces, some of the HVAC repairmen and I decided to help with the HVAC maintenance of their HVAC units. We also did not leave out the customers who needed HVAC installation. We provided the labor for free while the customer left the other expenses. When my bosses at the HVAC business got wind of what we were doing, they decided to join in to provide help with indoor comfort. The senior HVAC professionals provided us with the new HVAC equipment at a subsidized price, which meant that the customers replacing their units didn’t need to pay more for quality HVAC systems, including thermostats. It was exhilarating to put a smile on people’s faces after the devastating pandemic. There is a children’s home that had struggled to maintain their old HVAC unit that benefited from our exercise. After assessing their unit, we discarded it and replaced it with a system from a renowned HVAC brand that incorporated the new HVAC technology. The HVAC provider gave us the equipment for free, facilitating the transformation of the children’s home. By the end of my four-month vacation, my colleagues and I had brought joy to many people, especially with winter looming in the distance. Believe it or not, I felt rejuvenated and ready to return to work though I had worked through my vacation days.
