The numerous times my DIY activities have failed should have been enough warning that I could not clean an HVAC installation independently.
- The instructions for cleaning my ductless mini-split unit were simple and direct, but I needed to improve.
The quality HVAC unit would not power up once I was done cleaning, and the digital thermostat was also off. I was trying to avoid having to call the cooling corporation for air conditioner service and thought I could do the easy tasks without the help of an a/c worker. I still have no idea what went wrong because when I called the cooling specialist, they managed to bring the unit back to life. I didn’t bother to ask what they had done, but it was clear that whatever went wrong was something to do with my cleaning activity. All I had wanted to do, apart from saving money, was ensure that I improved how much the unit’s capacity helped with indoor comfort. I explained to the a/c professional everything I did while cleaning the unit. When I mentioned opening up the unit according to a video I had watched, they finally figured out what I had done wrong. Despite the correction, I would only repeat the same mistake if the indoor comfort business closed and there was no one with experience to help. Looking back, I was fortunate that I got the air conditioning fixed within hours of damage; otherwise, I would have had to go to my parent’s home because their electric heat pump never had any issues, and they always used experts. That experience is the sole reason I ensure that my air conditioner tune-up is pre-booked and marked in my calendar too.
