After living in a small rental with a ductless mini-split system, we bought an old home with a central HVAC installation.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t quality HVAC because it died a month after we moved in.
The cooling specialist who had been doing the air conditioner tune-up for a month before we gave up on it told us we needed an alternative air conditioning system. We got a brochure from the local cooling corporation with several systems we could pick from, and that’s how we ended up with an electric heat pump. Our main goal was to save on energy since we already had a mortgage to pay. There were many options to help with indoor comfort, but having a ductless system was also a priority because we wouldn’t have to do multiple construction projects. The other digital thermostat we got from the indoor comfort business for each room was an additional feature we knew would work in our favor since our previous unit had them, and they were very helpful with temperature regulation. We still got other tips from the a/c worker at the indoor comfort business. I didn’t expect that we would have to do some of the maintenance without calling the a/c professional for air conditioner service. The good news is that we wouldn’t have to do it if we didn’t want to because routine maintenance could easily cover it. I was glad that we wouldn’t have any ducts to clean up, and the cost of maintenance, though more frequent than we were used to, was affordable for us. We haven’t had any trouble with it since installation.
