My husband and I have been buying and selling real estate for the past 10 years. During the last year, we have bought several different properties. The last property that we purchased needed brand new flooring and updated HVAC equipment. The old and rundown property didn’t have central heating or cooling. It was important to get a contractor out to the property to find out how much it was going to cost to update the heating and cooling equipment as well as the flooring. The flooring was a problem that needed to be solved too. Not only was the flooring old and useless, but there were several spots in the kitchen and the living room where the floor was warped and the wood needed to be replaced. I really wanted to find a contractor that could handle all of the work. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of building contractors that also handle HVAC equipment repairs and updates. I did find a contracting company near the property that could handle the flooring. After the flooring repairs and updates were made, I contacted a different company that handles HVAC equipment upgrades. It took almost a week to install all of the ductwork for the heating and AC equipment, but now the house is up to code and ready for a new tenant. We’re going to rent the house for a couple of years until the market is better in this area for selling. With the updates, we should be able to fetch close to the high end of the market price at $1475/monthly.
