I haven’t worked out for three days, and I feel like a fossilized dinosaur.

I’ve been suffering from something for a few days, so I’m trying to rest and give my body time to heal so that I can resume being me.

I haven’t experienced a few days of rest like this in a long time, and I believe it is my body’s way of telling me to slow down and take some time to appreciate the little things. Like an HVAC system that runs nonstop throughout the summer, it is easy to keep pushing yourself. In order for the body to have the energy to fight off illnesses like the one I currently have, you need to give it enough time to rest. Last winter, I ran my oil heater constantly without ever cleaning the filter, and one afternoon, it finally caved in and stopped working, alerting me to the fact that I need to do more maintenance if I want to stay comfortable during the chilly winter days. I put a lot of pressure on myself, and I need to start taking better care of my body by drinking less Coors and consuming fewer unhealthy foods. I enjoy getting a burger from the neighborhood store once a week, sometimes even twice. However, I may need to cut back on that and start eating more vegetables like my heating technician friend does. She is genuinely healthy and sometimes makes me feel bad for eating a burger, but at least I cut out sugar from my diet a few years ago.
