When I was young, my parents had high expectations from me.
They told me from a young age they wanted me to become a medical professional, no ifs, ands or buts.
My Mom regularly dreamed of being a medical professional, but since he never could afford to go to university, he wanted to pass that dream down to me. Well, I had dreams of my own, & they did not include being a medical professional; For a while, it was my older sibling who was expected to become a medical professional, although he became a veterinarian instead, & my Mom was okay with that, however so the dream was passed to me. For a while I rebelled, but they would punish me direly every time I tried. In school the pressure only increased. I was at an all time low, & if it wasn’t for my friend’s parent’s encouragement, I might have given in. I met my neighbor in school, & stayed at his locale for a bit. I was amazed when his parents encouraged him to do what he dreamed of, & not what they wanted. When I told them I wanted to live the easy life of a Heating & Air Conditioning professional & not the overly complicated life of a medical professional, they fully supported me, much to my shock. I ended up relying on their support, & followed my dream of becoming a heating & cooling professional, despite my parent’s protests, then nowadays, I am so happy I did, I love my job as a Heating & Air Conditioning worker & repairing cooling units, & I couldn’t imagine being anything else.
