I turned our furnace into an air conditioner and it saved grandma.
We live in a very humid climate, and a heater or furnace is rarely used.
Grandma has several furnaces in her house, including a hot water boiler, two portable space heaters, an oil furnace, and a gas furnace. Most of these heaters and furnaces were not connected to anything, rather they were just sitting in her basement. I visited grandma and noticed it was way too hot in her home. She needed at least a window air conditioner, but what she really could use was a central air conditioning unit. I went to the heating and cooling store and company and purchased two window air conditioners. I am a well known HVAC technician so I had no problem installing the window air conditioners on my own. I then took it upon myself to build a central air conditioning unit and use my HVAC skills to install the cooling unit into grandma’s house. I took the parts from the oil furnace, the gas furnace, and even the two portable space heaters and began building an amazing central air conditioner. I had bild mini split air conditioning units before, as well as a few window air conditioners, but never had I build an entire central air conditioning unit by myself. It took a few weeks to build and I often had some of my air conditioner technician friends come over and help me. When I finally finished building and installing the central air conditioning I went to the heating and cooling business down the street and purchased a smart thermostat so grandma could easily turn on her new central air conditioning.
