Tex was a macho man through and through; at least, that’s how most people viewed him.
As his wife, I knew a different side of him, the softer and kinder side of him.
One person had him wrapped around her middle finger, and that was our daughter Ruby. Tex was always there for her every milestone. The day we started weaning her, it was Tex’s turn to change her diaper. I knew it would be very smelly since we had introduced food into her diet. After he was done, he brought her back to me, and the next thing I knew, he was calling an HVAC technician. Tex told them that we had a severe issue with air quality. At first, I was confused until he told me there was no way such a tiny human could stink a whole house. It was hilarious that he was dead serious and even suggested we take Ruby to the hospital that afternoon. I could not believe he had called the local contractor for home services. The following day I saw the HVAC company truck in our driveway, and I couldn’t help laughing. When the HVAC professional asked me what the problem was, I struggled to keep a straight face, and I told him that all we needed was HVAC maintenance and probably repair to make it sound more believable. I showed him to the HVAC unit, knowing that we did not need help with indoor comfort, but I was still determining if the air quality systems were okay. I was not surprised when the tech was done in record time and informed me that we only needed air filter replacement as much. The ductwork, however, was a different matter. We were in dire need of duct cleaning. It would also help if we got a whole home air purification system.
