We all agreed that her home would be where we would be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas after my uncle installed hydronic heating there.
My aunt’s apartment had a heat pump, whereas ours was heated by an easy heater.
Both were good and kept us warm, but my uncle’s apartment’s floors were warmer, which was great for wintertime indoor games. The fact that they were all so much fun and the apartment was big enough made up for the heater, in our opinion. It wasn’t always as much fun because their previous apartment’s boiler was so problematic that they gave up trying to fix it and chose to buy a new house instead. Their new apartment had a heater/heater replacement when they first moved in, but the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repairman they had hired to inspect it warned them that it was old and would cause them problems. It was simple for the heating company to decide between floor heating and hybrid heating and have both of them installed. My teenage cousins’ decision to leave the heat and air conditioning on all night caused the problem, and the electricity bills quickly grew to a level that my uncle deemed unaffordable. The radiant floors disappeared after she turned off the entire unit. Although she claimed that a $4000 bill that took months to be paid had convinced him to stop using the entire unit, we tried to convince him to turn it back on for the holidays. She could spend my money at the heating dealership for quick heater service for the hybrid system because they had another trusty option and the amount had set him back on Heating, Ventilation, and A/C service for that year.
