Oil furnaces run mainly on oil to heat your home and keep the thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Oil furnaces are becoming less popular among HVAC owners due to the rise in oil prices. A similar furnace type is the gas furnace. Gas furnaces are run on gas to heat your home. Gas furnaces also are becoming less popular among HVAC owners because of price, but gas prices also present more problems than most other furnaces. For instance, gas furnaces often have gas leaks, which could lead to an HVAC fire and then a house fire. The electric furnace is becoming more popular since electricity is becoming more popular and less expensive.
