Once I talked to the HVAC marketing specialist, I was curious about everything he was doing on my website.

He told me he was going to add SEO, but I wasn’t sure what he was talking about.

I wanted to know more about SEO keywords. He told me SEO is what the keywords were. It was a practice of adding keywords that pertained to HVAC companies. Those keywords worked like a beacon to guide people to my website so I would get exposure. The practice of installing keywords was called SEO, which is short for search engine optimization. I asked him what keywords he would use. He said the typical wording would be HVAC companies near me, HVAC, air conditioning, heating, cooling, and HVAC technicians. He said they were the basic keywords, but there were many others. Using SEO or search engine optimization were also keywords when creating websites that would act as its own advertising tool. I found this very interesting, but I wanted to know why SEO was so important. He asked how I would feel if there were no traffic signs to direct me to my destination. If all the streets looked alike and there would be no street signs to show me which street I was on? I would be lost. He told me that. when you have good SEO in your website and ads, you have given the search engines the street signs. They need to know how to get people from their location to your website. I was finally realizing how important SEO was for a working website.

I knew it was the middle of March, but I wanted my air conditioning unit inspected.

I had the money for the inspection, and I didn’t want to forget to have the inspection done, like I had last year.

All summer long, I was waiting for something to go wrong. I knew the HVAC company would remind I wouldn’t need the repair if I had the inspection done. I was going to be ahead of the game this year and call the HVAC company. When I called, I asked if it was too early to have the AC unit inspected. The woman I was talking to had been with the HVAC company for almost fifteen years. She knew who I was when I gave her my name. She asked if I was going to have it done early and not forget this year? I laughed and joked that she had found me out. She told me it was a good thing nothing happened. Last year was so busy, she wasn’t sure how she was going to fit all the repairs in so there were no ill effects of going without air conditioning. I was sure she was exaggerating to let me know how important it was to have HVAC inspections done, but I would not go along with her. I asked her to give me the earliest appointment possible so I could take off the day of work. When she offered me a Saturday afternoon, I must have sounded disappointed. She asked if I preferred to take a day off work? I took the appointment.

Sometimes the only thing I can do is stand back and laugh when my husband attempts to do something; I know he isn’t capable of doing. Last week, he told my brother he could repair an air conditioning unit quicker than my brother could. My brother was an HVAC technician and he can repair nearly anything. He has had some air conditioning units or furnaces that were irreparable, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. My husband took a portable air conditioning unit apart to clean it and had several parts leftover. He then wondered why the portable air conditioner wouldn’t work. When offered to go up against my brother in a dueling air conditioning contest, I said nothing. I would not try to stop him. I knew better than that. He would get angry with me and we would argue for the next three days. It was easier to let him try to do things his way and console him when he failed. My brother asked me if Harry was serious and I laughed. I told him he knew Harry before I did and wanted to know if he knew him to be anything but serious. Harry thought of himself as the best handyperson ever. Unless he proved to himself he couldn’t fix everything, he would continue to try. It took my brother half an hour to find the problem with the air conditioning unit and have it repaired. Harry swore they fixed his air conditioning unit so he would fail. When my brother had it repaired in fifteen minutes, Harry walked away. I was going to need to console for a while, or he would never get over the loss.

As I sit packing my bags, getting ready to check out of the hotel with my wife and kids, I just wish this wouldn’t have ended.

I loved this vacation. I met some friends, had too much to drink, and just relaxed. I did have to help the hotel owner with their air filters at one point which is ok I guess but it really wasn’t anything. Now as I gather my things I kind of look forward to getting back to the HVAC business grind. I know my brother John misses me. He has been doing all the HVAC technician work while I was gone. I’m sure he has some stories to tell me when I get back. Overall I’m sure it was a boring 2 weeks and he probably only had to clean or replace air filters. Before I leave our room I should turn the electric air conditioner off. I’m sure housekeeping doesn’t want to walk into this room freezing their butts off. I really enjoyed sitting in the cool air when we were not outdoors. Regardless we have to leave our room by 11 am but we won’t be driving back until after dinner tonight. I set some reservations for us at a nice restaurant on the beach. It was the first place we went to on our first day of our vacation. I can tell that my wife and kids are going to miss this place already but we have to do what we have to do and get back to our lives. It was a fun 2 weeks while it lasted.

There I am, face to face with the menacing air conditioner.

My brother is nowhere in sight as the air conditioning vents open up and blast me with below zero air.

I quickly dive to the side behind the couch for cover as the white box creates icicles around the living room. I scream for help hoping my brother Mark can hear me. If anyone knows how to stop this enraged monster, it would be my HVAC technician brother. Unfortunately the air conditioning is blasting so hard that no one could hear me even if they were within sight. I, clinging to the couch hoping the air conditioner doesn’t serve me starts blowing harder and harder and the couch starts to lift off the ground. I, struggling to stay behind it, lose my grasp and the couch flies across the room. There I am again with the air conditioner pointing directly at me. I think I’m done for, I don’t know what to do. The air conditioner slowly moved towards me, opening and closing its vents, like it had an exciting chatter. I had nowhere to go now. I was done for and as soon as it opened it vent wide to freeze me with its next big gust, it shut down. The air conditioner unit came so close to me that it unplugged itself from the wall. I woke up sweating, scrambled out of bed and pulled the plug on our window air conditioner. My wife looked confused and asked what was going on? I told her don’t worry about it, we are safe now.

In October of 2025, which sounds far away but it is only about two and a half years off, I will hit the 20 year mark of being a performing artist.

I started out doing stand up comedy for the first 15 years, but then gradually shifted over to music as the comedy wasn’t doing it for me anymore.

The time I spent doing comedy wasn’t a waste though, as it seems to have really helped me with the singing and music side. I am pretty good at making up songs on the fly, and adding humor helps a lot. HVAC repairs I sometimes sing about, and especially on days in the local business when things go wrong with a heating or cooling system repair job. Singing about my problems seems to take away some of the power they have on me, as I used to do with my comedy sets. I like to work for the HVAC company doing smart thermostat sales and giving energy saving tips to the customers, but when I am playing drums and singing I feel more free than ever. I almost feel like a little kid again when I am performing, and I guess that is what keeps me doing it. The air conditioning supplier where we work is going to have us do a musical show when they have a big sale on all of the heating and cooling technology in the store. We normally get paid about $400 a show, but I told the owner of the store that we would do this one for free.

It has been a long cold winter, but my bandmate and I have managed to keep practicing in the streets and in clubs the whole time.

I think we play about five or six times a month during winter, but we make up for it in the summer, playing up to six times a week during the busy season.

We make about $100 a day in tips during the summertime, so it is tough to not play a lot. I make about $1300 a month in the summer, which pays all of my bills for the month. I do HVAC technology sales too, so I am able to save a good amount each month or drop it in an investment. I think next year I am going to just do music for my job and stop working for the local contractor. I have been doing hot water boiler repairs the past few years, along with some heat pump installs, but music is going to start taking more of my time so I will have to stop doing it. We plan on playing in the ski resorts during the winters now, so that will put us on stage probably five nights a week. We will play in ski lodges heated by fireplaces in front of a bunch of happy skiers and I think it will be a lot of fun for us all, which is more fun than playing next to a boring space heater. Our music is made up on the spot, which is what makes it so fun for me and for the crowd.

Sure, I could not use my climate control system and save a little bit of money, but with the sleepless nights and hot days I don’t feel that it is worth the small amount extra to stay cool in the flat

Things are going to change around this town very soon. The weather is finally going to break and some warmer temps will be on the way in about two weeks. That means the beaches will start filling up with sunbathers and volleyball players and the summer crowds will start to come back again for the season. The only really tough months are July and August when it is really crowded with tourists and really hot outside. This is when I may travel to some other towns and escape the crowds for a while. The cooling dealership will be really busy with a/c repairs and putting in new HVAC systems for people who can’t stand the heat anymore. Luckily, we are all set up in my flat with a good central system to keep us all cool on those brutally hot days. I like to run the air conditioner quite a bit in the summer and stay cool while I am home, unlike other people who don’t use any a/c so they can save about $75 a month. I think it is worth working a bit more and enjoying cool temps while in the flat all day long. Sure, I could not use my climate control system and save a little bit of money, but with the sleepless nights and hot days I don’t feel that it is worth the small amount extra to stay cool in the flat. I will also buy a cooling device for my bedroom to give me some added cooling power on those really hot nights.

I am getting pretty hungry for breakfast but I thought I’d knock out one article before I head out for a ride and my food.

I like to eat kefir each day, and have been for the past three years, as I think the probiotics in it are really good for the body.

It has a lot more strains and amounts of probiotics than yogurt, so I switched to kefir a couple of years ago when I found out the difference. One thing I have noticed over the past couple of years is that I’m not getting sick anymore. Cooling down the body with ice cold dips in the sea, followed by heating myself up again with a hot bath and a sit beside the gas space heater is proving to be good for my immune system apparently. I also take Ashwagandha, which is an ayurvedic adaptogen and basically slows down the aging process by reducing stress in the body. My heating rep got me on it many years ago and I have a lot of energy to do my HVAC systems repair work every day. I am 55 years old, and although I have definitely aged, my body seems to be in a lot better shape than most people my age. I do a lot of HVAC equipment lifting each week as I install heating and cooling technology in offices around town. I also do yoga seven days a week and I meditate each day, so I think between all of these things I am doing some good for myself. I have my HVAC tech to thank for most of this, she is the best!
