I was done for & as soon as it opened it vent wide to freeze myself and others with its next big gust, it shut down. The cooling system equipment came so close to myself and others that it unjammed itself from the wall. I woke up perspiring, scrambled out of bed & pulled the plug on our window cooling system. My husbandy looked confused & asked what was going on? I told his don’t worry about it, we are safe now.

I loved this holiday.

I met some friends, had too much to drink, & just relaxed. I actually loved sitting in the cool air when both of us were not outdoors, regardless both of us have to leave our room by 11 am however both of us won’t be driving back until after breakfast tonight. I set some reservations for us at a nice diner on the beach. It was the first locale both of us decided to go to on our first morning of our holiday. I can tell that our partner & kids are going to miss this locale already however both of us have to do what both of us have to do & get back to our lives. It was a fun 2 weeks while it lasted.

I was not surprised when the tech was done in record time and informed me that we only needed air filter replacement as much. The ductwork, however, was a different matter. We were in dire need of duct cleaning. It would also help if we got a whole home air purification system.

The HVAC professionals would be available after three days. As we waited for the engineers, indoor comfort reduced significantly. I requested the employees to work from home for the rest of the week. Since I am an HR, I prioritize creating a good working environment for my staff. When the repairmen finally showed up, they were fully dressed in the appropriate gear and came with the tools to fix the unit. I hoped they would not suggest getting a new unit as I still needed to be given such a budget. After introducing ourselves, I took the repairmen to where the unit was. One of the servicemen, though I looked familiar since I had never seen him before, I shrugged it off. They started with the HVAC maintenance, which included duct cleaning, fixing the ductwork to seal any leakages, cleaning the entire unit, and the air quality system. The same professional returned to my office and said he knew me from my brother’s birthday party. He was a good friend of my brother, though I did not remember him. What a change and a breath of fresh air.

• The changes at my workplace, while way overdue, have been monumental and totally on point.

For the past 5 years, our regional office has done nothing but spiral to the bottom of the company in performance. I’m surprised the suits with the thermostats in their offices at corporate let it go on that long. But there was a management team that was underperforming in our regional office that was given a long leash. I guess that leash got yanked because corporate came in and made sweeping changes. Thankfully, quality heating and air is part of those sweeping changes. The old management team is out and a transition team from corporate is here for the interim. But the changes here in our regional office go much deeper than simply getting rid of the boss. He was certainly incapable of handling this regional office and the data clearly proves that. I’m hoping that they go with a hire from inside our regional office so they understand the proprietary concerns. But I will hand it to corporate because they have completely redone our offices. Gone is the one thermostat that controlled the heating and cooling for the entire floor. We now have commercial HVAC that rivals the commercial HVAC in the corporate offices. I was surprised if not a bit stunned to find that once the HVAC replacement was complete, we had zone controlled HVAC. We were also all encouraged to make other suggestions about creating a work environment that is both conducive to comfort and quality work. It really is amazing to see all these changes and the morale in our office has completely turned around.
