The space heater has been working just fine

Once more, the temperature decided to drop below 50 degrees, but this Winter time has proven to be a single of the most unpredictable when it comes to the weather! Earlier this week, it was just about 73 degrees outside, plus I considered turning on my air conditioning appliance.

I opted for a fan instead which has been fantastic because it is not hot inside my dwelling.

Now that the temperature has dropped by almost 30 degrees, it would make sense to use my central heating… However, I have made the choice to use a space heating system because in a couple of afternoons, the temperature will be back in the high 70s again. This fluctuation in temperature makes it pretty tough to determine how to use my heating plus cooling appliance. One day I could be using my air conditioning plus then the next day, I would need to switch to the central heating. Switching back plus forth between heating plus cooling could cause additional wear plus tear on my HVAC appliance, so this is why I decided to use my space heating system when the temperature dropped considerably outside. The good thing about the space heating appliance is that it’s portable, so I can use it in any room in my dwelling. While space gas furnaces are designed to be used in small spaces plus it will never substitute the central heating in my home, it is keeping me extra comfortable while in this change in temperature. In time, I will use my central heating but only when the weather is freezing outside for longer than a day! And with the temperature being so unpredictable, who knows when that will happen.

I have been utilizing the space heater

Once again, the temperature decided to drop below 50 degrees, however this cold season has proven to be one of the most unpredictable when it comes to the weather.

However, earlier this week, it was almost 74 degrees outside, and I considered turning on my cooling system.

I opted for a fan instead which has been relaxing because it is not boiling inside my household, and well now that the temperature has dropped by almost 30 degrees, it would make sense to use my central heating device… However, I have made the choice to use a space heating system because in a couple of days, the temperature will be back in the high 70s again. This fluctuation in temperature makes it pretty challenging to determine how to use my heating and cooling device. One day I could be using my cooling system and then the next day, I would need to switch to the central heating. Switching back and forth between heating and cooling could cause extra wear and tear on my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C device, so this is why I decided to use my space heating system when the temperature dropped outside. The relaxing thing about the space heating system is that it’s portable, so I can use it in any room in my household. While space oil furnaces are designed to be used in small spaces and it will never update the central heating in my household, it is keeping me extra comfortable while in this change in temperature. Eventually, I will use my central heating but only when the weather is nippy outside for more than a few days. With the temperature being so unpredictable this year, who knows when that will happen.

I used my space heater last night

Once again, the temperature decided to drop below 50 degrees. This Winter has proven to be one of the most unpredictable when it comes to the weather. Earlier this week, it was almost 80 degrees outside, and I considered turning on my air conditioner. I opted for a fan instead which has been fine because it is not hot inside my house. Well now that the temperature has dropped by almost 30 degrees, it would make sense to use my central heating. However, I have decided to use a space heater because in a couple of days, the temperature will be back in the high 70s again. This fluctuation in temperature makes it difficult to determine how to use my heating and cooling unit. One day I could be using my air conditioning and then the next day, I would need to switch to the central heating. Switching back and forth between heating and cooling could cause extra wear and tear on my HVAC unit, so this is why I decided to use my space heater when the temperature dropped outside. The good thing about the space heater is that it’s portable, so I can use it in any room in my home. While space heaters are designed to be used in small spaces and it will never replace the central heating in my home, it is keeping me extra comfortable during this change in temperature. Eventually, I will use my central heating but only when the weather is cold outside for more than two day. And with the temperature being so unpredictable this year, who knows when that will happen.

A heating tune up may be next

There is no end in sight to this cold weather so far and we will give you some more tips on how to stay warm when it is so cold out.

As the temperature drops and winter approaches, it’s important to make sure your system is running at its best.

A tune-up can help ensure that your system is operating efficiently and safely. Here are a few key tasks to include in your heating tune-up. Cleaning the furnace: A build-up of dust and debris can impede the proper functioning of your furnace. During a heating tune-up, a technician will clean the interior of the furnace, including the burners, heat exchanger, and blower assembly. This will help ensure that your furnace is running at peak efficiency and can help prolong the life of the unit. Checking the filters: Dirty or clogged filters can reduce the efficiency of your furnace and even cause it to shut down. During a heating tune-up, a technician will check your filters and replace them if necessary. It’s also a good idea to change your filters every month during the heating season to keep your system running smoothly. Inspecting the ductwork: Leaks in your ductwork can result in wasted energy and higher heating bills. A heating tune-up will include an inspection of your ductwork to identify any leaks or areas in need of repair. Testing the thermostat: Your thermostat plays a crucial role in regulating the temperature in your home. During a heating tune-up, a technician will check your thermostat to ensure it is working correctly and make any necessary adjustments. We hope this helps you a bit!

It’s also important to consider the safety features of the heater, such as overheat protection and tip-over protection

Well the weather outside is frightful, but inside it is so delightful. I’m kind of happy that the holidays are over because it just makes me miss my family more being here overseas. So today I am going to think happy thoughts and also warm thoughts while we talk a bit about staying warm in the home. Portable warming units are a popular way to supplement or replace a central system, especially in rooms or areas of a home that are difficult to heat. They are a great option for those looking to save money on heating costs and increase comfort in specific areas of their home. When it comes to space heaters, there are a few different types to choose from. The most common types are convection heaters, radiant heaters, and fan-forced heaters. Convection heaters work by heating the air and circulating it throughout the room. Radiant heaters, on the other hand, heat objects and surfaces in the room, rather than the air. Fan-forced heaters use a fan to circulate warm air throughout the room. When selecting a space heater, it’s important to consider the size of the room and the level of insulation. A larger room will require a more powerful heater, while a well-insulated room will require a less powerful heater. It’s also important to consider the safety features of the heater, such as overheat protection and tip-over protection. When using a space heater, it’s important to keep a safe distance from combustible materials and to never leave the heater unattended. It is also a good practice to keep the space heater on a level surface and to plug it directly into a wall outlet rather than using an extension cord.

Are long-lived HVAC companies always the best choice?

There are a few ways to tell when a heating and air conditioning company is the kind that will provide excellent, quality service at an affordable price.

  • Here are a few ways to tell whether or not it’s worth it to do business with any given heating and air conditioning company.

My first piece of advice is rather obvious, but important to note. How long has the heating and air conditioning company been doing business in the area? The longer an HVAC company has been in business, more than likely, as a matter of common sense, they are successful because there has to be some redeeming qualities about them. Bonus points if there are other HVAC options in the area, and yet, this particular HVAC company has been in business longer than any of them. Also, it’s always a good idea to try and seek out reviews online about the HVAC company. Get a feel for their overall rating based on customer feedback and read a wide variety of reviews. Moreover, an HVAC company’s licensing is another significant indication of their professionalism. In order for any given HVAC company to get a license for doing business, there has to be at least one person employed by that company that is considered to be a master of the trade. Looking up trade licenses and the details concerning them is not difficult. While I am suggesting that the longer an HVAC company has been in business, the better the chance that they are a successful business for a reason, longevity isn’t always a surefire way of telling whether or not an HVAC company is legit. Again, this is why looking up reviews is important. It may be that this HVAC company that has been in business for a very long time actually has gotten used to doing things in a sort of old-fashioned way and is not innovating the way that some younger HVAC companies may be innovating.

I spend a little extra on heating and air conditioning because of my pets

I figured this out really quickly when I came home one evening in the winter shortly after rescuing the cats to find them huddled on my bed nestled in the blankets

I have a couple of cats that I absolutely adore. I rescued both of them from the stray life when I discovered them at the back of the building where I work two years ago. They were both skinny and lanky, but thankfully, they were otherwise healthy and did not have any issues going on with them. They were both barely beyond kitten stage, though there didn’t seem to be a mother in the picture. My cats have brought me joy and respite from loneliness, so I do my best to give them the love that they deserve. This included spending a little more money on air conditioning and heating that I otherwise wouldn’t have. Before I owned any pets, I would simply either shut down my air conditioning system or heating system while I was away at work, or set the thermostat in such a way that the heat or air conditioner was almost guaranteed not to kick in. It wasn’t a big deal for me to come back home to a warm or cold house and let the air conditioner or heater bring things back up to a comfortable temperature. However, with the extreme temperatures that we endure in this part of the country, I knew that this was not going to be a tenable option for my two furry friends. I knew that I would have to leave the air conditioner or the heat running to a certain extent to keep them comfortable. I figured this out really quickly when I came home one evening in the winter shortly after rescuing the cats to find them huddled on my bed nestled in the blankets. I had left the heat off and the temperature on the thermostat read 59° when I got home. From then on, I’ve been entirely willing to pay a little extra money on my energy bills if it means that my cats are comfortable as they wait for me to return from work.

energy saving tips

My heating system gives out at the worst time

I had just spent an entire two weeks dedicated to a project at work that saw me put in a combined 154 hours! I was absolutely exhausted.

I was dreaming of Friday evening at the end of this two week stint.

It was not because I had any intention of a night out on the town. I quite simply don’t have that kind of stamina anymore. Instead, I really wanted to go home, take a nice long hot shower, throw together whatever meal I had energy to prepare, and collapse into bed with no alarms and no surprises for the entire weekend. That’s precisely what I did. Unfortunately, though I did manage to get an amazing night’s rest, simply because I completely passed out and practically died for about 10 hours, I awoke to find my home bitterly cold and damp feeling! I had not detected it throughout the night until I awoke, but it turns out that my heating system had not been working since at least a couple hours after I fell asleep. This was the last thing that I wanted to deal with. I was supposed to be able to relax! I checked the thermostat and couldn’t quite figure out why my heat was not kicking on at all. The air filter was freshly installed. There didn’t seem to be any electrical problems. That just about did it for anything that I knew to check for. I resigned myself to calling out an HVAC technician. I was praying that the problem would be resolved quickly. The last thing that I wanted was to be told that the heating system was catastrophically damaged and it would require a whole bunch of money to fix. The HVAC technician would arrive later that afternoon, so I bundled up in as many layers as I could, and did my best to enjoy myself. What would the verdict be for my heating system?

Should you work out in the air conditioning or heating?

If the extreme temperatures get to be too much for me, then I can always step through the door back into my air conditioned or heated home

There seems to be quite a debate on the topic of whether or not working out in the heat provides any benefit compared to working out in the cold. Furthermore, most people would probably think to themselves, “Why not work out where it’s comfortable?” Well, I personally find that if a space is too comfortably air conditioned, or even too comfortably heated, my brain and body goes into relaxing mode. That’s why I like to work out in extreme temperatures. I’m already uncomfortable. If anything, it saves me on gym memberships. I don’t think there’s very many gyms out there that actually believe that not providing a comfortable level of heat or air conditioning to their customers is a good idea. However, I find gyms to be too accommodating when it comes to personal comfort level, if that makes any sense. It’s about as counterintuitive as having a snack bar that provides anything other than extremely healthy food and drinks in a gym. However, that’s just me. I find my garage to be the best place for me to work out. In the summer, as you would expect, it’s considerably hot, and in the winter, as you would also expect, it’s significantly cold. If the extreme temperatures get to be too much for me, then I can always step through the door back into my air conditioned or heated home. Typically though, I manage to make it through my workout just fine. It’s nice to have that little reward of going back into comfortable temperatures! Having HVAC keeping things comfortable is nice, but as far as I’m concerned, being too comfortable drains one’s sense of drive and discipline when it comes to physical exercise!
