Yesterday I got my furnace tuned up just in time.

The winter months were right around the corner and all the heating and AC businesses were booked up with people all trying to get in their fall Heating and cooling tune ups.

Everybody’s having their heating systems tuned up because nobody wants to take the risk of having their heating system breakdown during the cold winter weather. Another place is this might be a risk that was worth taking but not in the area I live. The temperatures here can drop really low and you do not want to be without any kind of heating system when it gets really cold here. It is so cold that it can put your life at risk if you have no way to warm yourself. This is why most people don’t even use just one type of system but they have multiple heating systems. I’ve never known anybody here that has less than two heating systems. That’s for me personally I’m a little more on the paranoid side so I have three. I have my gas furnace that I use as my main source of heating, although I also have a fireplace in my home, and I have a space heater as well. There’s no way that all three of them are going to fail me. So I don’t just have a backup I have a backup for the backup. Still, since my gas furnace is my main source of heating I wanted to have it tuned up by my heating and cooling business. I got lucky too because I was able to grab the last available slot before the heating and AC companies were all booked up.

We all love our pets but did you know that their hair could be detrimental to your health? Think about it, pets have all kinds of allergy causing irritants.

A good filter could literally prevent you from getting sick and this is why I cannot recommend one enough, these are not regular disposable air filters, these are specifically designed air filters that are placed in dirty environments and make them clean again. They clean the air that is, the rest of the cleaning of the house you’ll have to do on your own of course. Your indoor air quality has more of an impact on your health than you may think of this, so if you love your pets but you also care about your health, one of the ways you can make sure that you have good indoor air quality is to get a HEPA filter. A good filter will keep your indoor air quality clean while allowing you to Love and enjoy the pets you cherish.

I had never seen an air conditioning system leak before. I didn’t even know that that was possible, until I came home and saw my wall HVAC unit leaking. The water was running down my wall and then it was soaking into my carpet. I stepped on the carpet and it made a gross squishy noise. Ew, wet carpet feels gross. I took a towel and wiped off the wall, and then decided to call the HVAC business. I honestly wasn’t sure if the HVAC machine was dangerous or not. Thankfully, the heating and cooling tech reassured me that the A/C unit leaking was not dangerous. The heating and cooling worker told me that he could come out and repair the problem, which was great, because I was figuring that it would take much longer. Usually the A/C appointment times around here take much longer than a day. The heating and A/C tech arrived early the next morning, and by then, the cooling unit had leaked even more, despite my best efforts. The issue was a clog, and once the clog was cleared, the heating and A/C serviceman told me that it shouldn’t leak anymore. I am glad that it wasn’t anything major, nor anything dangerous. The repair was pretty cheap too, and overall I am satisfied with the service I received. That was probably the first issue I have had with the wall A/C unit. Even though wall cooling devices aren’t known for being the best, this one has done really well.

The heating unit went out in my apartment at least a month ago, possibly longer.

• At first, I wasn’t too concerned because it was not winter yet, and the fall weather was still fairly warm.

Not only that, but there were a lot of repairs that were going to be done at my home, and I figured the landlord would notice the malfunctioning heating unit and repair it. I guess I should have known better than that, because the furnace system went unnoticed and was never repaired. By the time I let my landlord know of the issue, it was already the beginning of winter. The landlord tried to call out their heating and A/C maintenance man, but he was already booked with other heating and cooling repair appointments. The landlord told me that the waiting time was another two weeks. Well, I couldn’t go without heating for two weeks, and while I considered getting a space heater, I heard some bad things about those and the thought of a fire hazard in an apartment did not sit well with me. I decided to use my electric oven as a heating source, and I would keep my electric oven open with a fan above it, blowing all of the warm air out and further into my apartment. Thankfully, I didn’t have to do this too often, as the heat was decent enough to last a while. I will be glad to have my regular heater back though, because changing the thermostat is much easier than using the electric oven.

My father always knows best for HVAC. When I bought my house, I didn’t go to the local HVAC company to have the HVAC system inspected. I went to my father. Even though my father is no longer a certain HVAC technician, he is still an HVAC technician. He retired about three years and my brother is now running the HVAC company. My father will do all my HVAC work for free, but my brother charges me full price. He tells me I am a customer of the HVAC company. I’m not his sister when I need service, but the owner of an HVAC company. I think he is rude, because I’m sure he gives his fiance reduced prices when he works on their HVAC system. He probably doesn’t charge any money for his services. Dad laughed when I got so angry at him. He said he had the right to charge me. I was his customer when I called for service. The people there didn’t know me, and they wanted to get paid. If it was another HVAC technician, other than himself and my brother, they expected to get the full payment, so they have a check. This made perfect sense, but it didn’t keep me from getting angry with my brother. Even when I asked him if he would help my husband put our television set on the wall, he asked how much the job paid. I thought he was kidding,and told him I would make lunch. He said if I was that cheap, I could call someone else. He refused to help with the television set.

When the HVAC technician was at the house, he told us there were some problems with the furnace.

He was fairly certain it would last us this year, but we had to have a new furnace before the following winter.

My husband thanked him for being frank and asked him what we should watch for. He gave my husband some suggestions, and said if we had any of those problems, we should call immediately. The noise I was hearing wasn’t part of the list the HVAC technician gave us, so I tried to ignore it. I figured there was some dust blowing around inside the ductwork, and that was why I was hearing some odd scratchy noises. When the noise got louder, and my husband noticed it, he was a bit aggravated. He asked why I hadn’t mentioned it before, and I told him it wasn’t on the list of worrisome things. He shook his head and took a deep breath, to keep from getting angry. I looked at him and asked if he wanted to purchase a new furnace or have a costly repair when we know we need a new furnace in less than six months. He said no, but he wanted to have heat for the next two months of winter. I agreed and said that if the noise got worse or items on the list were happening, then I would call immediately. Two days later, the HVAC technician was knocking on the door. Although my husband agreed with me, he still didn’t like the noise. He called and asked for an appointment when he got to work.

Anyone who knows my husband, and I or has talked to us, knows I don’t want him working on my HVAC system.

He always does something that leads to us calling the HVAC company.

Last year, he was supposed to do a simple air filter changed, which is my job but I was sick. He couldn’t get the air filter out of the furnace. When he got it out, he had all the dust that was on it, in the air filter chamber. He brushed it out and started putting the new air filter in. Before he got the air filter properly seated, he had broken three other air filters. The air filters are expensive. When he thought he could service the air conditioning unit, I was concerned. He said he had been reading about servicing on the HVAC website, and it seemed like a simple process. We could save almost $150 if he were to do the servicing on the air conditioning unit this year. I gritted my teeth to keep from arguing with him. We still had a couple of months before the air conditioning unit needed to be serviced, and I was hoping he would change his mind. A week later, he told me he found some interesting information about doing service on an air conditioning unit. He had read several articles from other HVAC companies, but it had him confused. He thought he should watch the HVAC technician when he did the service this year. Next year, he would have notes from the HVAC technician, and the articles, when he did the AC service for ourselves.

We use the backroom as a spare bedroom and my office.

There is very little heat that gets to that part of the house, so we use a space heater during the winter.

We had an oil filled space heater with a full thermostat, and safety features, but after five years, its memory settings were no longer working. I would turn the space heater off and the temperature would revert to factory settings. Those factory settings had the thermostat set at ninety-five degrees. I turned the space heater off after working, and the next day I had to reset the thermostat. My husband told me I had to check the thermostat before leaving the space heater on when I left the room. It was zero the other day, and I thought the space heater was working overtime. I knew it would be difficult for it to keep it warm that day, but it was hot. I opened the door to go to the bathroom, and I almost dropped when I came back into the room. It was so hot that I couldn’t breathe. The space heater had reset and within twenty minutes I was out of the room, it had reached ninety degrees in the room. I turned the space heater off, but it was still running. I had to unplug the space heater to stop it from running. When I plugged it back in, it went right back to ninety-five on the thermostat. I was tired of playing with it and told my husband I wanted to go into town and purchase a new space heater. This one was going to roast me out of the room.

Radiant heaters are really nice, because they add warmth without forced air.

Sometimes having air blowing in the house can cause my eyes to dry out and that makes my allergies out of control.

I can’t breathe and my nose gets stuffy. I get a headache and I can’t sleep at night. When I heard that a radiant heater could help this problem, I told my wife that we should go to the store to look for one. We went to the local hardware store and we went to the supercenter. They didn’t have anything that was nice. We also went to the cost plus store and they didn’t have any good choices either. I was beginning to think that we wouldn’t find anything at all, but then I had a really good idea. I told my wife that we should contact the local heating company to see what items they had in stock. The heating company sent a technician over to discuss all of the options that we had available. The guy must have been at least 45 minutes talking to us about different types of radiant heaters. The heating company didn’t charge a single penny for all of the information and they left us lots of pamphlets, brochures, and literature so we could make a decision. There was no high pressure sales tactic to get us to buy something immediately. The heating company technician told us to call when we made our decision and they would fit us into the schedule. The service and attitude we received from the heating company was absolutely amazing.
