I’m starting to regret getting an older dog from the SPCA.

I’m slowly starting to learn this dog’s tendencies and I can say I’m not a fan of a bunch of them.

Duke is his name and he struggles with loud noises, my heater turning on and off and has house anxiety. I’m still learning so I’m sure I’ll get to know other things about him soon enough. He loves to be outside but likes to run off if I don’t lock the gate. He is a runner for sure! He rather be outside than indoors anytime. Outdoors is much cooler so I can see why he would rather be out there. I do use the central heating to the point where some of my friends bring shorts to change into if they come over wearing pants. Duke doesn’t care if it’s raining or all muddy outside and will drag that dirt into the house. If I’m not outdoors with him all he does is howl and stare at me. So when the weather is bad outside I’m out there with him. He will wander the yard for 15-20 minutes before he even does his business. I’m freezing at this point in time and after he does do his business he acts like a jerk and runs around the yard when I’m trying to get him inside. I might start tying him up to the tree so it becomes easier for me to get him inside. I might invest in a portable space heater soon for an outdoor shed as well. I’m brainstorming a bit but I miss being inside for these outdoor sessions.

I had never seen an a/c program leak before.

• I didn’t even know that that was possible, until I came house and saw our wall Heating, Ventilation, and A/C component leaking.

The water was running down our wall and then it was soaking into our carpet. I stepped on the carpet and it made a gross squishy noise, and ew, wet carpet feels gross. I took a towel and wiped off the wall, and then decided to call the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C business. I genuinely wasn’t sure if the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit was dangerous or not. Thankfully, the heating and cooling tech reassured me that the a/c component leaking was not dangerous. The heating and cooling worker told me that he could come out and repair the problem, which was great, because I was figuring that it would take much longer. Usually the a/c appointment times around here take much longer than a day. The heating and a/c tech arrived early the next day, and by then, the cooling component had leaked even more, despite our best efforts. The issue was a clog, and once the clog was cleared, the heating and a/c serviceman told me that it shouldn’t leak anymore. I am blissful that it wasn’t anything major, nor anything dangerous. The repair was pretty cheap too, and overall I am pleased with the repair I acquired. That was absolutely the first issue I have had with the wall a/c unit. Even though wall cooling devices aren’t known for being the best, this 1 has done absolutely well.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I regret calling the HVAC company and inquire about installing heated floors.

The years of wearing socks to keep my feet warm ended six months ago.

I was never a fan of wearing socks but my feet are always cold. I went to my friend Jessica’s house about a year ago and the instant satisfaction of stepping on her floors after being out in the cold all day was absolutely amazing. She gave me tons of information on what drove her to this decision and I gave myself a little time to think about it after. I wasn’t really sure if I could afford to have a heating technician come to my home and install them. My house also isn’t the cleanest so I know I had cleaning to do and I didn’t want to be embarrassed having a complete stranger in my dirty home. I live alone with no pets besides a goldfish but does that count? I have no excuse to have a dirty home but I think I’m one of the laziest people to ever walk this earth. At 35 years old you’d think I would have my life together but I’m far from it. The only thing I keep clean is my desk at the office. I don’t want people to think that I’m a dirty person. The drawers in the desk though are a different story. Getting heated floors goes right up there with my purchase of the “clapper.” I still use it to this day for bed.

Today is a day I’m staying inside.

It’s just way too hot to be outside.

We hit a record high temperature of 102 degrees and there is no breeze. I guess if I really wanted to feel that I’ll just turn on my oven and stick my head in it. I guess today I will stay in and catch up on this TV series everyone keeps telling me about. The air conditioning is on full blast today just to make me feel comfortable. If that goes down today I wouldn’t know what I would do. Speaking of which, as I look out the window I see that the Andersons have a HVAC van in their driveway. I’m guessing their central air is out again. They have had many problems with their HVAC system and really should look into updating everything. They are nice people but I know they are struggling financially a bit. I wish I could help, maybe if I was ever to win the lottery. They have helped me so much over the years with watching my kids, shoveling my driveway in the winter, trimming my bushes, etc. All I know is that I can count on them when I need it. I definitely would like to repay them the favor of helping me so much. I just remembered I have to pick my son up from swim class later so I’m eventually going to have to leave this place and enter the desert. I better bring plenty of water then. Until then I’ll see if the Andersons like to come over if they are having issues with their air conditioning unit.

My son is the strangest.

• He’s a goaltender for our highschool team and he’s pretty dang good.

He’s always about hockey and trying to be the best goaltender that he can be. He practices and does pick up games outside of playing for the school a few times a week. On top of that he also works for the local fast food restaurant. I’m proud of what he’s trying to accomplish. He wants to continue doing this in college and take it further if possible. He has caused some frustration with me with it as well. I don’t want to crush his dreams so in a way I let some things slide but if he wants to mess with the air conditioning that is where I draw the line. He wants to be in the elements of feeling the cold like he does on the rink at home. I don’t know what this accomplishes but he does it. I remember coming home and the central air was set so high I felt like I was on the ice of the hockey rink. I had some words with him but I can’t stay angry at him. I did buy him an air conditioner unit to put in his window so he can mess with the temperatures in there if he wishes. Just in case I reached out to the heating and cooling company and had a smart thermostat installed from a HVAC expert. I’m never coming home and dealing with the extreme cold again. If my son wants to sit in a freezer all the time then he can do that in his bedroom.

I love the sport of hockey. I grew watching my favorite player lacing up the pads week in and week out in the national hockey league. Some of the things I do in the goaltender net resembles how he played. In no way or shape am I saying I will ever be as good as him but I just love his playstyle. I practice or do pick up games 4 to 5 times a week to keep myself in shape and get better. I play for my highschool team and hope to find a spot on a college team. Outside of playing hockey I work at the local fast food restaurant. I make minimum wage and it’s ok overall. Everyone has to start somewhere, am I right? So the weird things about me that I do when I don’t practice or in games. You can find me always preparing my body to be on the ice. At home I have my own air conditioner and I crank that bad boy to the highest setting possible. It feels like you walk into a freezer when you enter my bedroom. I try to mess with the thermostat dial outside of my bedroom but my dad will kill me. I did it one time and he expected to come home from work in a cozy house but found out the house was an ice box. That is most likely why he bought an air conditioner for my bedroom and invested in a smart thermostat so he can see the temperatures of the house. I learned my lesson to not mess with that again.
