I have a long-standing feud with the guy who lives beside me.

His name is Kenny, and he and I have been next-door neighbors for about ten years now.

We have never liked each other, but something changed recently and our mutual disdain erupted into a feud. I would call it a feud even though I don’t really do anything to Kenny, I just put up with his bad attitude. I will admit to goading him on, and intentionally pissing him off, but at this point I just think it’s funny to make him mad. A few weeks ago I called for an emergency HVAC service after my heating unit started to malfunction. I always use the same local HVAC repair service, because they have always done right by me. When the HVAC repair team arrived and started unloading their gear in my driveway, Kenny came out to talk to them. Might I remind you I was experiencing an emergency with my heating system, so his presence irked me. The HVAC team came inside and went to work, and I went outside to confront Kenny and ask him to leave my property. Kenny asked me what was wrong with my heater, and I told him to buzz off and leave me alone. Kenny did leave my property, but as soon as the HVAC team was finished he returned and started talking to them again. He was asking them questions about what kind of HVAC system I used. I don’t know why he wants to know about my air conditioner, but he needs to just leave me alone.

For years we just used the basement for extra storage.

• During the COVID lockdown there was a lot of free time to do household projects, so I took on the chore of clearing out the basement.

There were boxes and bags down there from when we first moved in! Most of it went right into the trash bin. If I hadn’t needed it for almost a decade, why bother keeping it at all? When it was all said and done there was a huge room open and waiting to be repurposed. The only thing keeping the area from being a Rec Room or a spare bedroom was the water boiler. The water boiler sat in the corner, and generated so much heat and moisture it would be difficult for the room to remain occupied for long periods of time. This was why it was being used for storage in the first place, because the water boiler made it too warm down there. In a fit of inspiration, I realized I could kill 2 birds with one stone and use the water boiler as the source for a home sauna. The water boiler would provide ambient heating and high levels of humidity, so if I could amp that up a little more the whole basement would be an amazing wet sauna. I called an HVAC professional to get his expert opinion, and he said the water boiler would be perfect for this idea. He did recommend a new humidity cut-off switch, so that if the air quality became dangerously damp the water boiler would turn off.

I will smile and lie and say that I love animals, but in truth I do not.

Animal lovers are a weird kind of people, and being honest with them is not the best policy.

Telling a dog owner that you don’t like dogs has the same result as kicking their dog. They will treat you like you are morally suspect, because you don’t like their stupid pets. I am never mean to animals, I just don’t like having them around me. When I go on an HVAC service call and someone has a big dog that is sniffing me, I ask the client to put the dog away. I will also make a note on their account, so that future HVAC techs know what they are walking into. “Oh, but my dog is so nice” says every HVAC client ever, even when the dog is not particularly nice. There was one time that I had to install a new central A/C unit in a lady’s backyard. It was a fenced in backyard, where she let her dogs run wild. I asked her to put them away when I worked on the air conditioner, but she didn’t do it. Since I had to go in and out the gate to bring in my tools and the replacement A/C parts, one of the dogs managed to escape. She said she would sue me if the dog got hurt, so I just loaded up my tools and the replacement A/C parts and drove away. She can fix her own air conditioning.

After I finished with HVAC technical school, it was hard for me to find a job.

There were a lot of places hiring close to home, but I wanted to move to a different city with my new girlfriend. She didn’t want to stay in our little hometown where there wasn’t anything fun to do on the weekends. We moved a little bit closer to the city and the rent was higher than we anticipated. It took a long time for me to find a job too. I applied for a position with a lot of different heating and AC companies. Unfortunately, most of those places wanted the candidate to have at least one or two years of on the job experience and I didn’t have any at all. I had to work in a restaurant as a waiter until I found a full-time position. The job qualifications for that place included 2 years of training as well, but they let me start and put me on a 90-day probationary period. I had to ride around with someone else and basically do all of the grunt work. I had to start somewhere, so I couldn’t complain after I got a position. I did learn a lot during those 90 days and it felt like I didn’t know anything from the classroom when I thought that I knew everything. I can absolutely understand why so many of the HVAC businesses only wanted a qualified candidate with more than one year of HVAC on the job training. I am now a full-time HVAC technician and I regularly get overtime at work. The boss trusts me and knows that I am going to get everything done the right way without complaining.

I like to work out and stay physically fit.

Even though I have a job that takes me out of town often, I still try to work out when I am in a hotel.

I also have a membership to a gym that is nationally known and the place has fitness centers all over the country. I mostly rely on the fitness center and the hotel. I always check to see what the fitness center looks like before I make any reservations. Some people check to see what the breakfast options are and other people want room service. Some people think that the heating and air conditioning system is the most important thing and others are interested in the bathtub or jacuzzi settings. I just want a nice fitness center with the machines that I prefer to use. I went to a different Hotel a couple of months ago and it was my first time visiting the place. They had really good reviews online for the fitness area so I was super excited to see that first. After I checked in and took my bags upstairs, I went right to the fitness center. The place was packed. It was not a surprise to see the place so busy, especially after I went inside. They had lots of different machines and great indoor air quality. The place had a separate ductless heating and air conditioning system and an air purifier. It was set up really nicely and still a safe place where we could work out without worrying about getting covid.

When I have an emergency with my HVAC system, I want to be sure that I can have the problem fixed as soon as possible.

If the heat pump breaks down in the middle of that night on thanksgiving, I want to be able to call my regular HVAC service provider for help.

If there is a foot of snow on the ground and the roads are treacherous, I need a company that will still be able to provide service to my furnace. My HVAC provider has same day Services guaranteed and that includes overnight. There is an additional fee for after hours calls, but there are still service providers available to work at 4:00 in the morning. I had a problem with my furnace last year and my wife and I woke up in the middle of the night to a cold bedroom. The rest of the house was even worse, because we were behind a door. When I realized that the furnace was not working, I immediately contacted the company that I prefer. The answering service took the call on the very first ring and she had a qualified and licensed HVAC technician contact me about 15 minutes later. It was an hour or less before the technician arrived to get the furnace up and running. The guy did great work and he looked very awake and alert considering the fact that it was the middle of the night. They must have some technicians that work on the third shift and provide these heating company services in the middle of the night.

I called the insurance company three times before I got through to anyone.

As soon as I discovered mold and mildew under the sink, I contacted the insurance company.

I knew that everything under the cabinets was going to need to be replaced. I fixed the plumbing repair on my own. I didn’t understand why the insurance company sent a heating and air conditioning service company to help me with the mold and mildew. I was surprised that the heating and air conditioning company handles mold remediation as well. The heating and air conditioning company specialist put a small dehumidifier under our sink so the walls and flooring could dry properly. He sprayed some kind of chemical that was supposed to get rid of any leftover mold and mildew and keep it from recurring. I didn’t have to pay for any of the services provided by the heating and air conditioning company. A service company technician came to the house every other day to check on the wood and make sure that things were drying properly. The service that we received from the heating and air conditioning company was a lot better than the service that we regularly receive from our own service provider, so it definitely made me think about switching to a new provider the next time that we need service on our HVAC unit. I’ve been using the same company for so long that I’ve just gotten accustomed to their charges and their habits, but there are definitely better service providers out there and maybe cheaper prices too.

It’s not more currency, it is more efficient than I thought it was going to be, but i didn’t have zone control Heating plus A/C in our life before, however now I can see why more plus more people are getting it in their homes.

It just moves the cold or moderate air to the rooms that need it plus does so a lot quicker than the normal Heating plus A/C systems. I spend most of our time in numerous rooms of the flat; the office plus the kitchen. The rest of the time is basically just passing through the other rooms. As far as the bedroom goes, when I am cooking the stove is a superb enough oil furnace to keep me moderate in the wintertime. When it is summer time plus I am cooking I just turn on the small fan in our bedroom to keep me cool while I toil the food. My flat has an extra kitchen that isn’t used much, despite the fact that I guess I am going to get a roommate soon, so I’ll have to open the vents in that room once again.
