I have a big, handyman around to do jobs around the house! Just because the people I was with and I are older doesn’t mean I don’t want to improve my house.

I am not all that keen on residing in a little breach shack either. I have sunk quite a bit of cash into my southern home. I substituted the family room, added another bathroom and remodeled the master bedroom, and my hubby has needed to do a lot of plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, and A/C and window substitutement for me. I recently was looking at getting a modern front door and a side door, and the side door leads to my bedroom. It is a nice little sneak out point if you want to walk a dog, take a cigarette break or just get some fresh air. I am a bit nuts about spiders. I suppose the door is not airtight. It can certainly be kicked in and spiders can come in through the cracks. The front door is pretty ulgy and wobbly as well. I obtained myself several exterior doors with glass. The front door has a full glass front with concealed blinds. The side door is half glass with the blinds. That way I can get natural light but also have privacy. I am not a door upgrade style of gal though. My hubby isn’t around for weeks. I have been looking into door upgrade or door substitutement services. I found a door supplier that is willing to install each door 300 bucks cash. I believe that is more than fair.

I ended up with a large space! Outside it looks appreciate a large white box since I had it painted. It might be not the most visually pleasing space at first, however walking inside it is a whole new world. You wouldn’t believe two shipping containers could look that good. It was also a quarter of the cost to do portable solutions rather than an actual building. I rest by our decision. I guess I will leave our restaurant as is.

The car shop installed an aftermarket performance exhaust system on my car that not only made more noise than the OEM, but it wasn’t as efficient as the OEM exhaust system.

I felt like I wasted money on the aftermarket exhaust system, and I couldn’t return it. I called the car shop and asked them if there was anything I could do to exchange the aftermarket exhaust system for an OEM exhaust system and they said no. All I could do was have it removed and they would install the original exhaust system, and I would still need to pay full price. I was really upset they hadn’t explained this previously, but there was little I could do. I told them to take off the aftermarket exhaust system and replace it. I know that many aftermarket performance car parts will work the same as the original car part. I also know that many times, the aftermarket performance car parts are less expensive than the original. Next time I need new car parts, I’m going to need to do more research than just looking at the price. Had I done my research and looked for something other than price, I may have bought a different aftermarket. I would have saved money, but it ended up costing me more. It was possibly one of the biggest and most expensive mistakes of my life, and the life of my car.

I was pretty embarrassed by the state of my air filter the other day when my HVAC technician was at my house.

I had made an appointment to get the air conditioning system tuned up so that it would be all ready to go in the spring when the weather started heating up again.

I always try to get the A/C tuned up at the end of the hot season because I feel like I should give it a nice rest before I start using it again every day in the spring and the summer. Anyway, the HVAC technician was a really nice guy and we were talking about how important regular maintenance is to the health and quality of your HVAC system. I was agreeing with him about everything and we were shaking our heads together at the way that certain people don’t take good care of their heating and cooling systems. But then when he went to pull the air filter out of my air conditioning system, I realized that I had not changed it in months and months. The fact that I was standing there with him as he pulled it out and it was covered in months worth of dirt, dust, and grime really made me feel stupid. I stood there sheepishly and he knew that I felt like a big dummy. He just shook his head sadly, like I had disappointed him in some way. It was really one of the most embarrassing things that has ever happened to me, if you want to know the truth!

The problem that I had last week with my furnace system just goes to reiterate the fact that I don’t really know what I’m doing when it comes to home repairs. My furnace wasn’t coming on when I turned the thermostat up and I decided that I was going to fix it myself. I did not want to pay for an HVAC technician to come out to the house and so I was determined to figure out what the problem was myself. This did not turn out well. I ended up making a simple problem very difficult and at the end of the day I had to pay a fortune to an HVAC company to come and fix it anyway.

I am so excited to be finished so that we can move in! It won’t be a day too soon.
