So things just didn’t work out the way we had hoped it would with the girls. When my wife and I bought this house, our oldest had just been born and we wanted to get a family home with quality heating and air before we had more. The house we bought was what we could afford. We’re both teachers and just don’t make a ton of money. It’s a nice house with a great layout but it had only 3 bedrooms. Well, that worked out for us because after our son, we were only going to have one more child and were hoping for a girl. So we bought the house and upgraded the residential HVAC and were ready to add that daughter to the mix. We got the daughter and another one. My wife got pregnant with twins girls so that 3 bedroom house suddenly wasn’t the best idea. We figured we’d just have the girls share the one room. I mean, twins do that all the time right? No big deal. Yea, it became a big deal once they hit middle school. It was just one fight after another so it was time to either buy a new house or add on to our. Buying a new house was a stretch so we added a master suite onto this house. It’s awesome because it’s ours and it has its own ductless heat pump for our heating and cooling pleasure. I love that it feels like we’re on vacation but in our own house. The ductless heat pump even has a remote thermostat that we can manage while lounging in our new king sized bed.

I really do have a great deal of respect for my dad and I always have.

He’s just one of those guys that lives honest and is good people.

The man has never turned anyone in need away. I’ve literally been there when he brought home strangers into the quality heating and air of the house because they were hungry. And he’s not the sort to want credit. He always says that he just hopes that he can help and maybe he’ll get some help when he needs it. When mom died, it was a huge blow for him. I tried to get him to move south to live near us. But he said that would just be far too much air conditioning for him. Yet, the house he and mom lived in was starting to get worn out. The HVAC equipment hadn’t been right in a long time. I knew for a fact that he wasn’t using the heat properly and was relying on a space heater at times. That just didn’t sit well with me so I took a trip up to just spend a week with dad. It was really such a great week in general as he realized that he had raised me to help people the way he did. And now it was time for me to help him. I think that made it easier for me to call the local HVAC professionals to get them out and replace the gas furnace. The new HVAC heating will make his winters all the more cozy and he promised to use it the way it was intended to be used. Maybe next summer, I’ll talk him into letting me get central air conditioning installed.

When we moved up north, it was just temporary or so I was told.

So I wanted to be supportive of my wife’s career as she was in line for a big promotion.

The idea of moving from the south, where the winter is so great that we hardly even turn on the heat pump for heating, wasn’t appealing. I’ve spent my whole life with that sort of winter so I wasn’t at all eager to change that up. Besides, my wife said that it would be a couple of years if that before she turned that regional office around. Then, we could come back home and she would go back to work inside the zone controlled HVAC of the corporate offices she left. But this time, it’d be in an executive capacity. All she had to do was fix the regional office up north. Well, this will be our fourth winter coming up. I haven’t heard a word about us going home anytime soon so I think that I’m in this for a while. It starts getting cold in mid October so I’m starting now with winter prep. This is something I hadn’t done prior because this was all supposed to be so temporary. Thankfully, I have great neighbors who have really helped me figure out a lot of things that I had no idea about. I’m starting from top to bottom in an effort to seal the house up super tight. That means more insulation and sealing off the perimeter of the attic. Then, I’m replacing storm doors and checking to be sure that all the window are properly insulated. I’m in good hands and I plan to save a good deal of money on HVAC heating this winter.

There is a lot that people way out in rural areas have to do without.

Of course, we have all the stuff like grocery stores, gas stations and HVAC companies.

But we had to wait a really long time to get a gym. There was a sort of fitness club in the region but it was way, way out of my price league. Then, a shopping strip mall went up just on the south side of town. And the rumor was that there was going to be a gym in there. Sure enough, a gym had finally come to town and I was one of the first in line to sign up. I wanted to get out of the quality heating and air of my house to workout. There was just something about going to an actual gym with real machines that beat the tar out of my weight bench and a few dumbbells. I was so excited to be getting out of the basement with no air conditioning to do a real workout in a real gym. I’d waited a long time for that. But I really might have just stayed in the basement because the commercial HVAC in that gym just wasn’t getting it done. The first few times, I thought it was just an aberration or maybe there was some sort of adjustment or breaking in phase. But when I inquired with the staff, they told me that this was what I could expect going forward when it came to the HVAC cooling. So that’s where it stands and it’s hot in there in July. Looking on the bright side, there won’t be much need for HVAC heating come winter.

I remember when I was a kid and wanted to earn some money.

My dad was so proud that I wanted to work that he found me a job pumping gas.

That wasn’t exactly what I was looking to do at 14 years old. But since dad went to the trouble to call in a favor, I did it. At least I was out of the air conditioning of the house and making money. But man, I hardly wanted to pump my own gas the rest of my life after that summer. So when my kid came to me wanting to figure out a way to make some spending money, we talked about doing yard work. He’s 13 and a really responsible kid. I’m sure that he takes after his mother on that one. So one morning, before it got hot and I needed to be inside the HVAC cooling, we had a lesson in mowing, weed eating and such. Then, I told him that I’d pay him to do the yard work at our house for a month as practice. Then, he could go out and see about finding other yards to mow for the summer or maybe longer. Well, he was doing great. Always mowed when he said he would and really took his time with the details. His mom gave him a tarp and asked him to weed the flower beds. He did but he threw the tarp over the HVAC cabinet outside and was tossing the weeds up to it. Luckily, I caught it before that turned into a ruining the HVAC equipment scene.

Have you ever tried using a window air conditioning system? I have and I will say that I wasn’t particularly happy with its results.

I got into a bad situation and I needed some AC quickly at a pinch.

I live in a really hot area, the biome around here is desert-like and so you can only imagine how he did this place in the summer. You can literally see the sun boiling everything, a place at the wrong time you’ll be practically cooked alive. As you might imagine a place like this can become very hot and this is why it’s very important that the people here have a good air conditioning system. Cooling technology here is much needed and much respected. However there was one time when right in the middle of summer, my AC unit broke down. I really think the sun had just cooked it and it just couldn’t take the heat and shut down. The issue must be that because the air conditioning system I had was not cheap, old, or lacking regular tune-ups. I was paying to have the air conditioning system repaired but until I can have it fixed. I knew I needed something to cool myself down now so I very quickly ran down to the local heating and I saw the system picked up a window air conditioning system. I placed it in the window in my bedroom and put it on full blast. I was disappointed with his performance, well it did blow air to the room it only blew in more hot air. Maybe I am just too used to my ice cold Central AC unit.

My home is not the cleanest place, this is because I have four children, a husband and three dogs that absolutely love to make a mess out of everything.

I know they don’t mean to, but I can’t wait until the kids are a little bit older so they can help me pick up around the house a bit.

As you might imagine, there are a lot of germs that are brought into the house. So I have found a way to manage these germs to prevent myself and my children from getting sick. The best way I have found that works for me is to use a UV light filter. A UV filter works by killing all germs on contact. This is my preferred method of controlling the amount of germs that get into my home rather than using a HEPA filter. While HEPA filters are great and definitely very effective, the fact that they do not kill all germs they only trap them. I wanted to make sure my home was a safe place for myself and my children to grow up and not have to worry about germs and illnesses. Of course I know that inevitably there’s always going to be some germs, because germs and bacteria are everywhere, however I’d like to minimize them as much as possible, and so far the UV light filter has done a great job for me. I will continue to use it until the bulb burns out, and then I can simply replace it with another one.

I have some friends of mine that still use old thermostats and as a result of this they asked me a lot of questions and I told them that I upgraded to a Smart thermostat.

• At first, they didn’t really see the reason for updating to a brand new thermostat.

I mean if what they had was working, why should they replace it? As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I’m bored with so many new questions about the brand new thermostat and asked me if I thought they should upgrade too. That was a hard question to answer because it really depended on their individual situation but I told them what I thought was a brand new smart thermostat based on my experiences. So for starters, I really love my smart thermostat because of the freedom that it allows me to have and the money it saves me. No more do I have to worry about getting off to change the thermostat, as long as I have my phone by me and I almost always do, but all I have to do is open up the app in my smartphone and adjust the thermostat as I see fit. I’ve also started leaving my air conditioning and heater off whenever I’m not home. You would not believe how much this has saved me each month. It also creates the perfect indoor climate control. I’m going to explain this to my friends. A lot of them were convinced to run out and buy one themselves and how could they not? Smart thermostats are great!
