I’m not sure why everyone talks about Heating & Air Conditioning pros plus how much sleep they miss! No one ever thinks about the wife of a Heating & Air Conditioning pro, and there are no common hours for my Heating & Air Conditioning pro husband Max.

Max is always running late, or he is always on call plus I can’t keep up with him.

I often eat without Max, plus his dinner is put in the microwave or the oven. I could not tell you all of the dates Max and I have had interrupted because his beeper went off, plus he needed to go back to work. It got to where Max and I didn’t go out unless he had the entire weekend off, plus often he would still be available on call. They always need a backup for the Heating & Air Conditioning pro who was on call. If a second emergency came up plus the Heating & Air Conditioning pro was already dealing with an emergency, they had to have someone ready to go out. The last time Max plus I had an uninterrupted date night, was when my friend and I were on a fun getaway. However, even then it wasn’t uninterrupted. Max and I went into this new seafood pizzeria that was on the waterfront. The humidity was atrocious when you were outside, however it was even worse inside. Max knew the air conditioner wasn’t laboring well. Instead of just asking if the Heating & Air Conditioning pro was on the way, he offered his expertise. He said he didn’t know it would take entirely too long to repair, because he thought it was just a clogged air filter. The only wonderful thing was that Max and I got our dinner comped, plus a voucher for another free dinner any time in the future.

When I walked into my first Heating & Air Conditioning classroom, I found that the instructor had assigned our seats for us.

• I always go to the front of the room because I have a minor hearing problem.

I have small hearing aids, however when I’m not in the front of the class, I can hardly distinguish between voices. I have had this hearing problem since I was a boy, plus I knew what to do to compensate for it; When the air conditioning instructor walked into the Heating & Air Conditioning class, he moved everyone, however my pals and I were put according to last names, plus I ended up in the back seat; For the first 2 hours, I had no idea what was going on, because I could not understand what he was saying. I really didn’t want to say something in front of everyone, however he was accusing me of not paying attention. When the class was put on break, he stopped me. He asked what was wrong with his teaching style? I shook my head. He wanted to know why I wasn’t listening, plus told me I could not use the earphones during class. I chuckled plus told him they were earphones. I was partially deaf plus they were my hearing aids. He turned a bright shade of red, plus asked why I wasn’t in the front of the class, but once I reminded him that I was until he changed our seats, the Heating & Air Conditioning instructor turned an even brighter shade of red. When class was back in session, he moved several of us, so it didn’t look like he was just picking on me. He said that there were many shiny, cheerful Heating & Air Conditioning faces that he needed to see more clearly.

I have been listening to too much television lately.

• I loved some of those corny advertisements, and they were even worse when they became infomercials.

I knew my thermostat had WiFi, and I thought my air conditioning also had WiFi. I thought about how much money I could save if the air conditioning unit worked mostly on batteries. I could buy a charging dock and plug the air conditioning unit whenever it started lagging. All air conditioning units work on electricity, so I thought it would be more convenient. If you had rechargeable batteries in the AC, and a convenient charging dock in the backyard, it would make life easier. My husband had all kinds of tools that used rechargeable batteries. I told him my idea, and he just looked at me like I had a third eye, or my head had gotten smaller. He asked if I was serious. I was totally serious. I wanted to know if our air conditioning unit could be run with batteries? He told me our solar panels charged batteries that kept our entire house with electricity, so in essence, our HVAC system was battery powered. Putting rechargeable batteries in the air conditioning unit wouldn’t work. There would be no way you could take out the batteries and recharge them. You wouldn’t have air conditioning for the entire time the batteries were charging. I told him we could recharge them while they were still inside. He reminded me that was why it was plugged into the electric system, and why we had solar panels. It was just a thought.

Last week, my husband came home and showed me his toe.

It looked sore, was swollen and turned black and blue.

I asked him what happened, and I burst out laughing. He told me he was in pain, and he thought he would at least get a hug. I got him a foot soak tub and put some epsom salts in it. My daughter called when I was laughing. She asked what was so funny. I told her my big strong HVAC technician had broken his toe, but I haven’t yet found out how. She was laughing and wanted to know what her dad did, as soon as I found out. My husband told me he walked into a customer’s backyard to work on an air conditioning unit. He got to the air conditioning unit, and was getting ready to open the front of it. He said he pulled the door off the AC unit and stubbed his toe on a huge rock that was blocking the door. He moved the rock after kicking it for making his toe hurt, and he hurt the toe again. He was glad the owner of the house wasn’t watching him when he kicked the rock and broke his toe. Even with excruciating pain, he finished working on the air conditioning. He even went inside and told the owner of the air conditioner what he had to do. He knew she had seen him because she kept looking at his foot, and then smiling. Now he was embarrassed and in pain, and I was also laughing at my husband, the HVAC technician.

I knew it was nothing but a comedy of errors, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

• I had never seen anything so funny in my entire life.

I wished I had a camera on me, because I would have taken a video and sent it in to America’s Funniest Home Videos. I was sure it would have gotten shown on TV. My biggest concern was if the HVAC technician was seriously hurt. He was coming to the house to work on the air conditioning unit. The grass was wet because it had recently rained. I told him not to run on the lawn, but he was in a hurry to get to work. I was his last customer of the day. The HVAC technician’s luck wasn’t with him that afternoon, he not only tripped on a turtle that was in the yard, but he slid in the grass and landed on his butt. When he fell, he landed on a snake, which wasn’t happy to be assaulted. It bit his arm, and had the HVAC technician in a panic, but it was just a common garden snake. I called the EMT’s and had them come to the house and check him out. He was going to have a nasty bruise on his butt, and the snake bite may get sore, but it wasn’t dangerous. I told the EMT I would have laughed if the HVAC technician hadn’t been hurt. It was then I couldn’t hold back the laughter. The HVAC technician sat there and soon joined me in laughter. He said it hurt too much to laugh. I was sure that once he got back to the HVAC company and told them what had happened, there would be more laughter.

Last week, I got a letter from a local lawyer. I thought it was more information on one of these frivolous class-action lawsuits someone was always filing. I ripped up the letter and threw it in the trash. The next letter I received had to be signed for. I worried the entire time I was driving to the post office to sign for my letter. I was worried about being embarrassed, if I had forgotten to pay my taxes, or hadn’t paid a bill on time. When I got the letter, I almost laughed. The HVAC technician had filed a lawsuit against me. He said my dog had bitten him in the leg, and he was unable to work. I remembered that incident. It wasn’t my dog that bit, but the neighbor’s dog. When the HVAC technician kicked the dog, it bit him. It only latched onto his pants, and I couldn’t believe there was anything more than a bruise. I called my lawyer and made an appointment to talk to him. I showed him the paperwork, and asked if the HVAC technician could really get that much money from me. I told him what had happened. He asked if I was sure it was my dog, and I told him I was positive. My dog was inside the house, and I took a picture of him in his crate. It was dated the same day the incident happened. The description of the dog on the paperwork was completely different from the picture of my dog. The lawyer said he would take care of everything, and told me the HVAC technician didn’t have a case. I didn’t know he had tried this once before.

I didn’t know what was wrong with my air, but without the air conditioning, I was getting sick.

• I knew it had to be due to the poor air quality, but the AQI was excellent today, and I wasn’t sure what was happening.

I had already called the HVAC company and told them about the air conditioning, but no one had called back with an appointment. I thought I would call them back, just to ask if there was a reason I would be getting sick without the AC unit, but I wasn’t sure. Maybe I should call the doctor, but it was a Saturday, and I would be told to go to the emergency room. That wasn’t going to work for me. I called the HVAC company and asked when the HVAC technician was supposed to arrive. She told me they couldn’t get him there until Monday, unless it was an emergency. I told her it was an emergency. I was getting sick without the air conditioning, and it needed to be repaired. That’s why I had called Thursday when the AC unit first broke. When she told me she didn’t know I had called early, and went through the books. She apologized for not seeing that and said she would have an HVAC technician come to the house within two hours. I soon found out it was the AC that was making me sick. Without the AC unit, my air purification system wasn’t working, and everything I was allergic to, was now back in the air. I didn’t know the air purification system didn’t work without the air conditioning.

He looked in his records and they didn’t show we had a maintenance agreement

The first thing my father told us when my husband and I bought a house was to take care of our HVAC system. He wanted us to have the entire system inspected, and buy a maintenance agreement from the HVAC company. He explained the importance of a maintenance agreement. He said he told all of his customers they needed one not just to protect the furnace, but to help with the cost of regular maintenance. When we got home, my husband called the HVAC company. He told them we wanted the HVAC inspected, and we wanted to sign a maintenance agreement right away. They told us they could have the HVAC technician at the house the following day, and gave us a website where we could purchase the maintenance and repair agreement. We thought this was going to pay for our next day’s visit, but we were wrong. The HVAC technician showed up and went directly to work on the HVAC system. When he finished inspecting the entire HVAC system, I told him about the maintenance agreement we had signed the previous night. He looked in his records and they didn’t show we had a maintenance agreement. The HVAC technician asked if we would mind paying for the service, and if we had signed the agreement our money would be refunded. I worried the paperwork hadn’t been seen in time for us to be covered. We needed to have the HVAC system inspected, but I wondered if we shouldn’t have waited until the HVAC maintenance agreement had been received by the HVAC company, and they received payment.

Last year, my husband bought a generator that could be charged through small solar panels. We didn’t need to worry about having any electric problems as long as the generator stayed charged. Earlier this summer, we had a big storm that downed several trees and left us without electricity. I told my husband he needed to get the generator running. Without electricity, we didn’t have air conditioning, and our son wouldn’t be able to breathe. He had severe asthma, and when it got too hot, it would trigger it. The doctor said he would grow out of the asthma by the time he was six, but we had another couple years to wait for him to be six. We had to have air conditioning for him. My husband went out to start the generator, but nothing happened. He had forgotten to hook up the solar panels so the battery would be charged. He had to go into town and buy gas so he could put it in the generator. I asked what was wrong with using the propane tanks, but he had forgotten to get them filled, too. Minutes were quickly passing by, and I was afraid for my son to go without air conditioning. Fifteen minutes later, I heard the AC come on at the same time as the lights came on. I thought my husband had the generator on, but it was the electricity coming back on. My husband reset the air conditioning so it would turn back on when the electricity turned on. He remembered how much trouble we had getting it started the last time the power went out.
