I actually tried to get my boys into playing this free online battle royale game, but they prefer playing this other game called minecraft.

I never was really able to understand the concept of just going around and mining items and creating things and building houses.

I guess it’s the fact that your imagination is the limit in such a game because you can actually do a lot in that game, but to me, it’s just so boring. I tried playing that game with my boys a few times but couldn’t get into it. They have played the battle royale game too, but they aren’t very good at it and I guess that’s why they never want to play. We used to have a bit of a conflict though. There would be times when I would adjust the temperature control settings to have the AC system just right. I like to enjoy a lot of air conditioning when I’m getting into a gaming session. So I would get on my game when the AC felt just right and then suddenly my username would be logged out. It’s because one of my boys would use my username to play their Minecraft game. At first I just had it on my account, but realized that I had to buy that game again for each of their accounts. I eventually did that and then I was annoyed when they said they wanted to buy the different versions of the game on other devices like their tablets and my eldest son wanted minecraft on his Playstation Vita. Eventually, I told them if they wanted all that, and the ability to play online, they had to use their own money because I was sick of it. In the meantime, I’ll continue to play my online game which is free to play without some special subscription to compete online!

I used to have a friend who claimed to be an expert on working on car engines.

He was able to get my jeep engine fixed and he even refilled the AC compressor so the AC system was working again. All we needed to do was use some refrigerant so that we could refill the AC compressor, but I was happy about my climate control working and I had him work on my cars over the years. He did alright for the most part, but he really made me mad with the last 3 vehicles I had. I had this nice SUV that worked fine for awhile until I had him change the oil. It turned out that he got the wrong oil filter for the SUV and the oil pressure went practically down to nothing. He claimed that all those oil filters were basically the same and it should work fine. He even insisted that I continue to drive the car even though I felt it was struggling. I should have listened to my gut, but that car was no longer running after a couple of weeks after that oil change with the wrong filter. Then he said he could fix the engine and asked me to buy a bunch of different parts he needed. Well, all this time went by and he never fixed the thing. In the meantime, I bought this cheap van that lasted me a long while, but I never let this guy change the oil in any of my vehicles anymore. I did end up getting a car from a shady dealership. I should have checked the oil but the oil was dry even though there was a fresh oil change sticker on the windshield. I ended up taking them to court and sued them for selling me a lemon.

Eventually, we saw a ductless mini split air conditioner for sale

My parents for the longest time had this old van that just sat in the back of our house. My father always said he was going to replace the motor in the thing because it was a good van in fairly good condition, it just couldn’t drive anywhere. My buddies and I used to hang out in that van a lot and would roll the windows down for a cool breeze. Most of the time, we would just play cards, chess, checkers, and other such games. One time a buddy said he wished we had working air conditioning in the van. While there was an AC system, without a working engine that seemed impossible. Then I thought maybe we could hook up some solar panels and use a window AC unit. We actually did this and it worked, but we had to keep the window AC unit propped on the side of the van, but it kept the whole van cool! We couldn’t believe how well that solar panel system worked, it was only 2 solar panels on the top of the van. Eventually, we saw a ductless mini split air conditioner for sale. We ended up getting it and we hooked up the condenser unit to the back of the van and installed the indoor AC unit inside. This thing worked like a breeze. Eventually, we put a new engine in the van and were able to ride around to different camping sites and the AC system always worked whether the van was off or on thanks to the HVAC running off the solar panels.

When my wife and I first saw this and how much cooler his room was, we were entirely amazed

Our son has always been a bit of a jokester, but he also has always been bright. One time he entered the science fair and he made his own air purifier. It basically was a fan with a small air filter. The air naturally was blown through the air filter and the air filter indeed collected the contaminants in the air. I honestly would have never thought to do that, but since that time, he has been using a fan with an air filter attached to improve the air quality in his room. Then one year, he chose to put together a makeshift air conditioner. He got an ice chest and filled it with ice. He got a pump that would run off of a solar panel he placed outside of his window and he had tubing connected to the pump. The pump would push the ice-cold water through the tubing and the fan would blow providing air conditioning to this room. When my wife and I first saw this and how much cooler his room was, we were entirely amazed. I remember thinking about how much money he was saving by getting AC in his room compared to how much it would cost to use a window AC unit. Of course, the window AC unit would be more effective at cooling down a space, but our son was really on to some things. We thought that he would become an HVAC professional the way he was headed, but he ended up becoming popular on YouTube and he makes a lot of money just creating unique videos and tutorials.

You know, there were times during the pandemic when I felt like I couldn’t even get up in the morning.

I just felt depressed with everything that was happening in the world.

I was worried about getting sick and so I called a local contractor to install a UV air purification system in our home. I hope everybody has learned from what we have experienced that we must have access to good air quality and UV air purification systems to keep us safe and healthy during tough times. I just hope leadership in our country can get it together so that we can continue to be a prosperous nation.

• Before it hit, I had a flourishing business downtown.

I used my experience as a cooling expert to build a business from the ground up. My company was dealing with all things HVAC systems. I would provide air conditioner tune-up services to residential and commercial customers. I also dealt with systems such as the heat pump and the mini-split air conditioner. The business was doing well until the pandemic hit. I remember when the first case was announced, I was at a customer’s house cleaning the HVAC ducts of his new air conditioning. The area where the customer resided was known to be very dusty and hence the customer had to regularly clean filters and vents to maintain high indoor air quality. After fixing his temperature control, we left and made a beeline to the office. We had just hired a new contractor who unfortunately was the first patient to contract the virus. To keep the rest of the cooling specialists healthy, we closed down the HVAC business. Now that we have a vaccine and the spread rate has significantly reduced, I decided to reopen the business. My business partner and I brought together the capital and within a week, we had restocked the thermostats and even started providing simple services such as installing a zone control system as well as duct sealing. To my surprise, a month after, I applied for a vacant position. This position needed someone with people management skills and experience in working with HVAC systems. Experience working in an HVAC business would be an added advantage. Fortunately, I have worked as a cooling expert for three years at a local store. The job description included providing air conditioner tune-up services including keeping the HVAC ducts clean and regularly checking on the duct sealing. I would also sell equipment such as the heat pump, the mini-split air conditioner, and all types of temperature controls. This equipment improves the livelihood of the farmers by increasing the indoor air quality among other creature comforts. I passed the first round of interviews and proceeded to the practicals. The room where my group was directed was small and had numerous pieces of equipment. I was nervous and started sweating when the invigilator noticed. He adjusted the temperature with the thermostat which significantly improved the indoor comfort. This cooled me down and I proceeded with the quest of becoming the new contractor. I illustrated how to install a new air conditioning system and integrate the zone control system. I was very confident that the cooling specialist would pass me through.
